SPARS
Kerr-McGee Nansen, Boomvang & Gunnison SPARs
Wilson-Mohr, Inc. designed and supplied the top tension riser monitoring system (TTRMS) for these three offshore SPAR platforms. There are multiple buoyancy chamber tensioned risers on the SPARs – each having an array of three load cells monitoring compression between the tubing head and stem head. The live values are transmitted to the topsides control room where total riser tension and top bending moment are calculated, alarmed, displayed and archived in the TTRMS console.
In addition, all surface wellhead and production tree electrical signals and transmitters (i.e. stem head pressure, annulus pressure and production line pressure) are terminated and provided by W-M. This provided the added benefit of consolidating all surface wellhead electrical terminations (i.e. TTRMS and process control system oriented) into the scope of supply of a single vendor.
The duration of these projects extends from 1-2 years and our scope of supply included the offshore commissioning of the systems over as many as 15 months. The project management requirements are extensive in the areas of 3rd party design interface, materials supply, fabrication schedule, integrated SAT participation and quality control.
