Pre-bid activities mostly concern information gathering. Our sales and technical representatives meet with the customer to review the existing installation (or plans for a new unit), perform a physical survey if appropriate, determine the scope of supply and the requirements of the new burner management system, and the customer's goals. Goals often include safer and more reliable operation, meeting current code requirements, updating the system to current technology or plant standard control system platform, re-certifying the boiler or furnace for different operational parameters, or some combination of the above.
If requested, Wilson-Mohr can also develop the customer's project specifications. In some cases, where much of the conceptual requirements have already been developed, we can work strictly from a valid P&ID and basic specifications to develop a complete proposal as well. From this information, our team can develop a proposal that fits the customer's operational and budget requirements. The finished proposal will include a definition of the equipment to be updated or installed, a definition of the burner management system being offered, a bill of materials, documentation list, project schedule, pricing and commercial terms. Wilson-Mohr's proposal can often be used as a working document to define the project requirements, much like a specification.
